HEALTH: See what happens to your body when you don't take enough water (see video)
Water is essential for human life. It represents 50 to 70% of our body weight and is crucial for most bodily functions. Any deficiency in normal body water, from dehydration, illness, exercise, or heat stress, can cause us to rot. First, we are thirsty and tired and may have a slight headache.
Healthier people control the water level of their bodies through food and drink and are driven by appetite and thirst. But this is more difficult for babies, the sick, the elderly, athletes and those with intensive physical activities, especially in the heat.
